This summer Färgfabriken Norr is proudly presenting an exhibition with the artists Carl Johan De Geer and Marianne Lindberg De Geer.
The couple are amongst Sweden’s most established artists, and are now for the first time exhibited together.

Carl Johan De Geer is active as a photographer, designer, artist, stage designer, author, and filmmaker. In 1967 De Geer showed a provocative series of CO’s posters with the title Svik fosterlandet (betray your country) that was evidently un-nationalistic and immediately confiscated by the police. Together with Håkan Alexandersson he created the legendary television series Tårtan (the Cake). De Geer took part in publishing the underground magazine “PUSS” (KISS), and also participated in the founding of the textile artist’s collective 10-gruppen (the 10-group) in 1970. His short film Mormor, Hitler och jag (Grandmother, Hitler and I) was shown 2001 at the Cannes Film Festival and was sold to over 70 countries. 2007-2008 Carl Johan did a stage-design restructuring of Prince Eugen’s art, and exhibited it at both Waldemarsudde and at the Museum of Sketches in Lund. In 2008 his 14th book was published, the highly acclaimed autobiography Jakten mot Nollpunkten (Vanishing Point).

In 2010 Cinemateket in Stockholm chose his film Med kameran som tröst, del 2 (with the Camera as Consolation, Part 2) as one of the ‘00s four best Swedish feature films. The photo exhibition Carl Johan De Geer and the Swedish Underground was shown at the same time in New York, and will later be shown in both Paris, London and Tokyo. De Geer is married to Marianne Lindberg De Geer since 1987.

Marianne Lindberg De Geer (MLDG®) is an artist, dramatist, writer on cultural matters and a member of the Swedish Arts Council. She has an inclination and an aptitude for the unexpected – and not least have MLDG® taken interest in the power structures of the art community, which she have questioned and challenged with both gravity and humour in her art as well as an debater. Many of her works have instigated and created debate. Jag tänker på mig själv - Växjö (I Think About Myself/I Care About Myself – Växjö) have been vandalised on numerous accounts and created a cultural debate in both press and television. The piece Mate Hunting i Borås have also suffered from repeated defacement, accompanied with a local art debate. In 2007 MLDG® made her début as a dramatist with the play Jag tänker på mig själv (I Think About Myself/I Care About Myself), preformed at Dramaten and produced by Andreas Boonstra.

During the summer of 2010 MLDG® is presenting a large retrospective exhibition, Orientering (Orientation) at Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg; an extensive presentation of the artist’s straightforward, versatile and humoristic expression. The exhibition will also be shown at Bohusläns museum and Skövde konsthall during the autumn of 2010.
